This beer is excellent...and just as good (if not better) than Stone's Arrogant Bastard. Not a surprise considering who it's brewed by! Excited to see what else Stone Brewing Co has to offer this year!
Checking out Stone Brewing Co's Double Bastard (ABV: 11%) tonight! Was really excited to pick up this ale, and loved its tastes of burnt pine, caramel, dark toffee, bready malts, & brown sugar. It has a distinctive, bitter smell and taste.

Ending the week by relaxing with Grimm Artisanal Ale's Bees in the Trappe (ABV: 8%). After opening the beer, I was hit with delicious smells of delicate honey and spicy fruit. The taste didn't disappoint either -- soft and smooth with sweet malts.
Well-balanced and easily drinkable, this beer was definitely worth the buy. Cheers! The weekend is almost here! Spending the night with Allagash Brewing's 2014 Four Ale (ABV: 10%) -- a Belgian Qualdrupel -- brewed with 4 different hops and 4 different malts, then fermented 4 times! The taste certainly shows.
It has a beautiful amber color, with delicious aromas and tastes of caramel malts & citrusy hops. This beer has a great balance, yet attains its richness and complexity. No surprise, as it's brewed by Allagash! Cheers! After a long Monday workday, there's only one thing you need -- a nice, cold brew. KelSo Beer's Industrial IPA (ABV: 10%) does the perfect job. This beer is packed with citrusy, hoppy, malts and goes down quite smoothly. Plus, you can't beat its price compared to other exceptional IPAs.
This beer is brewed right in Brooklyn, NY (The Craft Beer Maiden is a proud New Yorker). After today, I'm ready to try all the beers KelSo has to offer -- and you should, too! The Craft Beer Maiden is relaxing for just a little bit longer until the week starts up again. For this lazy Sunday, I'm sipping on an Almanac Beer Co. Tequila Barrel Noir (ABV: 10%) -- a delicious stout that has been aged and matured in tequila barrels.
This stout is decadent and rich, with a toasty aroma. Its taste has hints of smoke, vanilla and spice. Not a bad beer to drink before a dreadful Monday morning! Christmas may be over, but that's no reason not to enjoy Brouweij St. Benardus' Christmas Ale (ABV: 10%). This beer has an absolutely delicious aroma, filled with gingerbread, spice, dark fruit, and molasses.
The taste mirrors the smell, but can be a little too heavy/sweet on the palette -- because of its richness, be sure to share it with a friend! It's 2015, and there's no better way to start the New Year than sipping on a Goose Island Beer Company 2014 Bourbon County Stout (ABV: 13.8%). Three words describe this stout: syrupy, balanced, and delicious.
With hints of vanilla, dark chocolate, and subtle hops, this stout has quite the aroma. Since the booziness of the beer is pretty high, don't hesitate to share with friends -- they will be sure to enjoy the experience! Cheers to 2015, beer lovers! Merry Festivus, beer lovers! Tonight, I'm drinking some of the very best Belgium has to offer -- Rochefort Brewery's 8 (ABV: 9.2%) and 10 (ABV: 11.3%). These bottles of liquid heaven go down so smoothly, they will have you double-checking the ABV. 'Tis the season for Winter Ales -- and this is definitely a good choice for those wanting to warm up on a cold, snowy night! Weyerbacher Brewing's Winter Ale (ABV: 5.60%) has delicious aromas and tastes of bready malt, herbal hops, dark chocolate, cherries and brown sugar. Plus, unlike other winter ales, this one is nice and fluffy; not too rich.
This isn't the ONLY great Weyerbacher beer, though. Stay tuned for more... The Craft Beer Maiden is starting off her new blog with what is widely considered to be one of the best double IPAs in the world. That's right, folks. I'm talking about The Alchemist's Heady Topper -- ABV: 8.00%. With citrusy aromas and a clean finish, Heady Topper is easily the most drinkable (and well-balanced) IPA I've ever had.
Heady Topper is only attainable in certain areas of Vermont, but it's certainly worth the trip to pick up a case!. |
